Ratcliffe student Luqman Aideed, 14, was recently selected to attend the England Men’s Under 15 Squad Selection Camp at St George’s Park. The camp took place over four days and included training sessions with professional staff as well as the chance to play with and against other individuals from various academies.
Only 26 players were selected for the camp, which aims to enhance skills and experience as well as providing better opportunities for development, so Luqman was very privileged to be included and this is also down to his hard work and commitment.
He said: “It was a good experience meeting other people from different clubs and training with different people.
“I’ve been interested in football from a very young age, my dad has always loved the game too and we both support Manchester United. The people I look up to the most are my dad and my aunt, for always being supportive of me.”
He began his football career at Coventry Academy, before joining St Finbarrs Football Club for a year, until he was scouted for Leicester’s under 11s and has been playing ever since. Luqman now attends Ratcliffe College as part of the Leicester City Football Club Academy Programme, which enables him to balance his football commitments with his studies.
Ratcliffe staff are very proud of Luqman and his achievements, he is also a valuable member of the College boarding community, this way he gets to share all of the emotional highs and lows both on and off the pitch!
