Last week saw our Year 8 students don colourful costumes and grace the stage for their pantomime performances. Four groups won the year-wide competition with the chance to perform on stage to an audience. Their original 10 minute pantomime versions of stories such as; Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk and Little Red Riding Hood were highly entertaining and the audiences enjoyed getting involved with plenty of participation.
David Seidu and Harvey Henderson made a fantastic duo of ‘Ugly Step-Sisters’ who bullied poor Cinderella (played brilliantly by Elena Griffiths). In Jack and The Beanstalk, Amelia Haggis stole the show as a lively ‘Jack’, the pantomime cow also made an appearance led by an amusing and rather shady old man played by Thomas Murray. Red Riding Hood was also performed brilliantly by Frances Daly and Matthew Heywood had the audience laughing with his performance as her Grandmother! The final group modernised Cinderella complete with Ugly step sisters, Jaidev Nanuwa and Cameron Mulvihill on Swegways and Fairy Godmother (Tallulah Wood) sending Cinderella (Holly Clark-Pratt) to the Ball with a Selfridges dress in an Uber! The grand finale had the audience dancing the Macarena. Congratulations must go out to all Year 8 students who worked so incredibly hard on this topic.
Our next production comes immediately after Half term when Year 11 students will be performing their GCSE pieces. This year will see extracts from; Bouncers and Shakers, Two, Journey’s End and The Woman Who Cooked Her Husband. We hope to see you there for an evening of entertainment on 21st & 22nd February at 7pm.
