The stars of the show for the boys were David Seidu in the sprints, Phelton Tandoh in the throws and Joe Atkinson in the long jump. For the girls Zoe Howling, Daisy Reddin and Fisayo Abiodun all ran strongly in their respective events, Matilda Miles jumped well in the long jump and Jayde Patterson, Amelia Haggis and Tallulah Wood performed well in the throws.
Many thanks to the students and staff and also for all the parental support.
Cricket
1st XI
The 1st XI continued their season with a draw against the XL Club. The batting and bowling was steady but they struggled to keep up with the required run rate. Ollie Welch picked up Man of the Match.
U15
The U15 team got their cricket season underway with a comprehensive 135 run win over Mount St Mary’s. Ratcliffe batted first and posted an impressive 194 runs in their 25 overs. Fin Back and Archie Heaney both batted well to lay a solid foundation before Aled King came in and scored an excellent 96 not out with some very impressive hitting. Good fielding saw the first three Mount batsmen run out before Toby Blackmore and Fin Back cleaned up the tail with three wickets each, including a hat-trick for Fin, bowling Mount out for 59. Aled King was Man of the Match for his excellent batting display.
U14
The U14s came up against a very strong side, eventually losing by 32 runs. The opposition won the toss and opted to bat. Ratcliffe bowled incredibly well, reducing the opposition to a total of 125. Pick of the bowlers was Man of the Match Joe Davies.
With the bat Ratcliffe started brightly but the opposition were outstanding in the field and soon the wickets started to fall.
U13
The U13s began their cricket season off with a tied game against Mounts St Mary’s on a very low bouncing wicket. Ratcliffe batted first and set Mount a target of 68 runs to win. Sam Gray was the top scorer with 16. With a small total to defend the boys really stuck to the game plan of a good line and length, which proved very successful. It all came down to the last over where Mount needed five runs to win. Tilak Pabari, however, restricted them to only four runs with two dot balls to finish. The standout bowler was Joint Captain, Harry Gamble who bowled three overs for only two runs. Men of the Match were Sam and Harry.
U12
The U12 boys made a fantastic start to their cricket season with a very comfortable win. Winning the toss, they batted first and put on 145 runs with great performances from Sam Davies and Fin Spencer, who both scored 50 not out. The boys then bowled fantastically, restricting the opposition to 55 runs. Man of the Match went to Oscar Webster for his bowling performance, bowling a maiden and a wicket maiden.
