After the youngest of our pupils crossed the finished line as part of the various Prep School Sports Day events, our Senior School students were up next, waiting in anticipation as the sun shone on the athletics track and sports fields. After such a long wait without a Sports Day like this, every student was ready and raring to go, bursting out of the starting blocks and eager to compete with their peers, as well as cheer them on too.
It was great to have the Ratcliffe Community together once again and such a successful event was a testament to the determination both staff and students showed on and off the track. After a long day of running, jumping, throwing and cheering everyone rounded a fabulous day off at the ice cream van!
Our Director of Sport Mr Cole said:
“For many of our pupils, Sports day is the highlight of the summer term, if not, the entire school calendar and after a very challenging year, it was great to see so many of our students out representing their year groups and enjoying being active.
“We had to change the normal format due to Covid-19 restrictions, this meant that students not only got an opportunity to participate in Athletics, but they also enjoyed sessions of ‘Retro Sports’, which included a few old- school activities, such as the egg and spoon race and sack race. I’d like to thank all the staff who made this day possible and we look to next year’s event already!”
