On Wednesday 6th June the U11 Boys Cricket team travelled to Leicester Grammar Junior School t play in the 6 aside County Cricket Tournament.
The boys had to play three games during the day against Leicester Grammar Junior School, Brooke Priory and Grace Dieu.
After a tough opening match against Leicester Grammar Junior School ended in defeat the boys could have let their heads drop but they were as determined as ever to bounce back in the second game against Grace Dieu.
And bounce back they did setting a target of 55 for Grace Dieu to chase in the 10 overs. Our bowlers and fielding performance was back at its best and we managed to bowl Grace Dieu out for 43 securing our first win of the day.
Our final match was against Brooke priory and after a disastrous start with the bat we managed to regain some ground and set Brooke Priory the target of 50 runs to win in 10 overs. With a determined attitude and great self-belief not only in themselves individually but also collectively the boys set about their task with great energy and enthusiasm. This focused approach in the field and with an increase in the accuracy of our bowling resulted in us bowling Broke Priory out for 40 runs thereby securing our second win of the day.
This meant that we finished as runners up on the day which was a great achievement considering the difficult start we had had to the day.
Well done to all of the boys who played, Oliver Clark, Ernie Hoggard, Finlay Martin, Tom Giles, Sam Leake, Lucas Barker and Khrish Tailor.
