Model United Nations trip to Kingswood - Ratcliffe College

Model United Nations trip to Kingswood

Senior School | 15.03.2019

Thirteen students from Years 11 and 12 travelled to Kingswood School, Bath, to represent the school at the Bath International Schools Model United Nations conference. Students took on the roles of delegates for Uganda, Indonesia and New Zealand, debating a wide range of geopolitical issues in a range of committees including environment, human rights, disarmament, economics and the Security Council.

Students were challenged with thinking about complex issues not from their own perspective, but from that of their nation. This might include promoting values that are fundamentally the opposite of our own.

The students participated enthusiastically, engaging with the content of their committees and enjoying the experience of political debate and discussion. Particular congratulations go to Eddy Robinson and Harry Culpin for passing resolutions, and Annabel Mills for passing an amendment. A special mention also must go to Harry Culpin for being recognised as a commended delegate over the weekend.

The following students have been awarded certificates for their participation:

  3. Harry Culpin
