Following on from Adele Ruston’s engaging INSPIRE talk on Higher Education and Careers on 1 November, we were delighted to welcome Dr Amanda Avery from the Biosciences Department of Nottingham University to Wednesday night’s INSPIRE this week. Leo Gilliver, Year 12 wrote: I really enjoyed the INSPIRE talk on ‘The Exciting World of Biosciences’ as I found it reassuring that choosing an extremely tough course within the Biosciences doesn’t limit you to careers in pure research, but branches out into other disciplines e.g. business/economics. I also found the range of subjects required or not necessarily required for various courses in the Biosciences really interesting, and following the talk, I may even consider a career in the Biosciences now.
On Wednesday, 29 November, we welcome Old Ratcliffian, Andrew Finnan, to talk about ‘Entrepreneurship: Making Luck and Learning Lessons’ at 7pm in the Sixth Form Centre – all welcome.
