In the Easter holidays 22 students from Years 10-13 set off for the south of France to improve and perfect their French.
Arriving in Nice airport, we were greeted by warm sunshine and our host families for the week, who looked after us and made delicious home-cooked food.
Every morning the students attended intensive French lessons, where they practised and honed their skills. The afternoons were spent exploring the beautiful côte d’Azur: the famous Fragonard perfumery in the mediaeval village of Eze, Monaco and its fast cars, glitzy casino and Grimaldi palace, not forgetting Nice itself, with its wonderful shops, restaurants and cafés.
Apart from the obligatory shopping afternoon on the last day, we saw a French comedy at the cinema: “Tout le monde debout”, had a fun, competitive afternoon at the bowling alley and basked in the glorious sunshine on the beach. We finished the week with a meal in a restaurant on the famous Promenade des Anglais, which coincided with the birthday of one of our students, Miles.
We all thoroughly enjoyed the trip, with many students saying they did not want to come home! Thank you to Mrs Reddin, Mrs Grant and Mr Bielawa for their help and support, and to all of the students for making the trip such a great success.
