On Wednesday 3rd October, Ratcliffe College held its first Careers INSPIRE Day. This event was a new collaboration between our Sixth Form and the Ratcliffian Association to enable our students to benefit from the wealth of expertise of our alumni and parents and to help them prepare for life after their time at Ratcliffe and their future careers.
The afternoon played host to a carousel of seminars led by industry experts on interview skills, CV writing and resilience. This was followed by a Careers and Higher Education Fair. From 6-7.30pm, the theatre was bustling with students and parents who had come to visit the many stalls run by Old Ratcliffians, parents, Higher Education representatives and Careers specialists who had travelled from across the UK.
I am very grateful to all of the delegates who generously gave their time and expertise for the benefit of our students. My thanks also to the Ratcliffian Association which was instrumental in delivering this superb new initiative. I would like to thank especially former and current RA Presidents, Sebako Siame and Emma Wright, RA Executive Manager, Alex Slack, and RA Secretary, Katherine Lang, whose collective enthusiasm and drive elicited such a strong response from current parents and Old Ratcliffians as volunteers. Finally, I would like to thank Mrs Helen Grant whose meticulous work and dedication ensured that the event was a resounding success. We very much look forward to next year’s Careers INSPIRE Day!
