Here at Ratcliffe College, we recently welcomed our Year 7 pupils into Boarding Houses as part of a very special range of fun Boarding Taster experience this term. It was nice to offer something a bit special to this particular Year group, who had missed out on so many opportunities upon leaving Year 6 and transitioning into Year 7 during such a challenging academic year.
Pupils stayed in their tutor groups as they took part in a wide range of exciting activities
Which included some crazy Zorb Football, pottery painting, night prayer and a fun movie night fuelled by popcorn and sweet treats. They also got a taste of what life is like in the Boarding Community as part of this big sleep-over!
Head of Boarding, Mrs Da Costa jumped at the chance to bring them into boarding, she said:
“These events were all about helping them make memories with each other, to bond over shared experiences and to show them what boarding at Ratcliffe has to offer and that it’s truly at the heart and soul of the school.
“In between all of their fun-packed days, they still managed to squeeze in dance lessons, Cricket commitments, homework sessions and even managed to cheer on England at The Euros!
“I’m pretty sure we sent them home tired and in need of a well-deserved rest over the weekend, I really do hope they managed to make some fabulous memories and have a taste of what Boarding is like.”
Our parents were also delighted with the experience, with one telling us:
“We couldn’t ask for anymore from Mrs da Costa and the Boarding team. The daily updates on social media, together with photographs of all the activities was both reassuring and comforting!”
