Basketball Reports – 2018
The Under 18 boys Basketball team have currently played 2 games in the Leicestershire County cup group B, the first against a very strong Rawlins Academy which ended up with a 65-55 loss, a strong performance from Lewis Cox who finished with a fantastic 30pts and also Thomas Leite with 10pts with the rest of the points shared amongst the team.
The second game was against Bosworth Academy that also produced a strong team with some National League players in it. The game went to and fro but unfortunately it was Bosworth that had a great 3rd quarter which saw them get too big a lead for us to make too much of a dent despite the team finishing with a strong 4th quarter. On the whole though not a bad performance from the team which gave us things to work on prior to our next match in the new year. Final Score: 67-56 to Bosworth.
The year 9 Basketball team played in the County cup competition on Thursday 29th November against Martin High School and Cedars Academy.
They had a very close game against Martin High coming out with a 11-10 victory with a lot of the points being scored by Samson Kwok.
The second game against the eventual group winners Cedars Academy was a tough game against a much taller team with some very good players in it, we struggled to get off the mark in this one and didn’t start to make a difference until the 2nd half began.
The final score being 18-10 to Cedars.
Generally, a good performance from the year 9’s despite having very little team training, hopefully something they can work on over next term ready for their next match.
