The 2018 Summer Ball was a stunning success, a wonderful marriage of tradition and innovation, thanks to the grand vision of our student-elected Ball Committee.
Guests approached via the tree-lined avenue in a range of classic cars before disembarking in all their finery. A quick pause for a photo at the balloon arch entrance was followed by a champagne reception and mingling amongst aromas of wood-fired pizza and ambient live music.
The fountain lawn was transformed into a playground of giant Jenga, Connect 4 and croquet, while the picnic area overlooking the cricket pitch offered shade from the glorious sunshine. Gourmet street food vendors treated guests to delicious cuisine throughout the evening.
Inside, the themed marquee was resplendent with a feature illuminated blossom tree surrounded by stylish black and white seating between a full-scale bar and casino tables. A brightly lit archway marked the entrance to the piece de resistance – the eagerly anticipated Dance Dome – illuminated against the setting sun in Ratcliffe blue and fuelled by DJ Dex’s epic playlist.
My thanks to all the staff, students and parents who contributed to making the evening such a success, and especially to our Chair and Vice-Chair of the Ball Committee, Jack Vinall and Ben Dexter, whose remarkable dedication and ambition drove the success of this event from the outset.
