The Economics and Business Department is a dynamic and highly-motivated department that strives to ensure all pupils achieve their potential.
The Department offers Sixth Form students a choice between Economics and Business A Levels. Lessons are taught in dedicated classrooms which have interactive whiteboards, seating for up to sixteen pupils and access to computers. The classroom displays contain current economic data as well as helping showcase high attaining pieces of student work. Students are encouraged to read the business news regularly, helping them keep up to date with both UK and International economic issues. Both subjects have an encouraging number of students who pursue the subject at A Level and who go on to do an Economics or Business related degree at university.
Students have a choice at A Level between Pearson Economics B & Edexcel Business.

Students hold weekly board meetings, supported by an external business advisor and their link teacher, in which action plans and discussions focus on proposed business ventures to be developed through the autumn and spring terms. The students enter the National Competition in March, where students are expected to make a presentation, answer questions relating to their experience and create a trade stand to display their products.
