All students at Ratcliffe enjoy a full and varied programme of Physical Education activity alongside their Games Programme. The Senior School, including the Sixth Form, each have a whole afternoon dedicated to Sport and have additional fixtures on Saturdays.
We have recently invested over millions into new and improved sporting facilities. Most recently we have added a second all-weather sports pitch, a four-lane synthetic running track and additional netball and tennis courts. We have also opened a new fitness suite and second sports hall.
The PE programme changes each year to enable students to experience a full and balanced curriculum. Activities on offer may range from gymnastics, ultimate Frisbee, handball, badminton, volleyball, swimming, lifesaving, health-related fitness, OOA, teambuilding and much more.

Sports Scholarships are available for entry into Years 7 and 12. See Scholarships for further information.
It is a well-established fact that physical exercise is extremely beneficial for those who wish to succeed in their studies, and the facilities at the school allow plenty of opportunities for students to get involved with the busy sporting programme. Please also see Academic PE to find out more about the academic programme on offer in sport.
Physical Education and Games plays an important part in the co-curricular programme. A major emphasis of the programme is the pursuit of excellence and school representation in the major sports teams, which include rugby, boys’ and girls’ hockey, netball, cricket, tennis, swimming, rounders and athletics. Ratcliffe has a strong reputation for the quality of its sports teams and all students are expected to join in.
