On July 10th this year, our very own Fl.Lt Helen Grant RAF(VRT) and Cadet Sgt. Tom Cusack will be the sole representatives of the CCF at the RAF’s 100th Anniversary centrepiece event and centenary service in Westminster Abbey. Helen has the honour of being selected for this auspicious occasion from the entire CCF, and has nominated her senior cadet, Tom Cusack to attend with her. Amongst only 18 invited RAFAC (Royal Air Force Air Cadet) staff, with accompanying cadets, Helen and Tom will be amid many high ranking officials and members of the armed forces.
Throughout 2018 celebrations have been, and continue to take place all over the country in celebration of this birthday milestone, but it is July 10th that has been chosen as the date on which the celebrations will be focussed. Helen and Tom will be official guests at the service in Westminster Abbey, from where they will move to Horseguards Parade for a buffet and to witness Her Majesty The Queen present the RAF with new colours. A flypast is scheduled to take place to include up to 100 aircraft, an event in itself which is never likely to be repeated on this scale again.
This is a huge honour, and one that we at Ratcliffe College are rightly extremely proud of.
