Year 12 students Barzin Alipourkarami and Matthew Garcia led an Inspire Evening in the Sixth Form Centre, speaking about a Rotarian Conference on Peace Building. They had been invited o the conference by Mr Richard Power, father of recent Head Girl and OR Imogen. I was impressed at their delivery and facilitation of group discussions. They presented a shorter version at our Friday Chaplaincy Assembly two days later. At the same assembly, Miss Emilia Bakewell performed a beautiful rendition of You’ve Got a Friend, surprising workmate and student alike. Mrs Jo Leite, Head of Boarding, delivered an entertaining reflection on Monday morning, entitled Hidden Talents. For a second time the College was surprised by hidden talents – this time the sporting soprano, Miss Charlotte Collins singing Schubert’s Ave Maria.
In the coming weeks we hold a number of celebrations in the Church. Next Thursday is the Senior School Mass for the Ascension of Our Lord, and the next day we bid “Valete” to our Year 11 students with a final Liturgy of the Word. Students have chosen the themes, readings and hymns, and will provide reflection, music and prayers during the service. We all wish the Year 11s well in their GCSE exams, and pray for their success.
